Great recipe. Salt is great as listed in the recipe. I used all of the BBQ sauce from the recipe, let it absorb into the meat, then put bottled BBQ sauce on it for BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. My first attempt at pulled pork and it was wonderful! Ran out of it too soon for the guys!

Bestg pulled pork recipe I have ever tried. You might need more sauce for leftovers.

I happened to have a pork butt in my fridge the day this episode aired here in Canada, and I happened to have all of the ingredients in my fridge, except of course a beer! I put the dry rub on the meat, seared it, then added a combination of wine, water and maple syrup in place of the beer. This is by far one of the best meals I have ever made. The meat was so tender it did indeed pull apart with a fork, and there was enough BBQ sauce to make the meat extra juicy. This meal fed my husband and I for almost a week - and we ate some of it everyday for either lunch or dinner. Would recommend to everyone(and I have!.

As mentioned by other reviewers, this recipe is pretty salty. I'd cut the salt in half.

The sauce is fantastic--a good departure from other sweet pulled pork recipes. I used a bottle of Sam Adams and it turned out well. I'm going to go out on a limb next time and use a can of Guinness--cross your fingers for me!

Wonderfully easy and tasty. I used just 1/2 tsp salt, and I also used the crockpot after the 500 degree stint in the oven. Basically just feel apart! Yum!

Oh my goodness this was SO great. I am from Ohio, and living in San Diego- I can't find any good BBQ here, so I decided to make my own- and I was frightened because I know how hard it can be to get it right. Dave did it!!! Thank you! I followed the recipe - but I use a light beer because that is what I had on hand- it was still lovely, although I would love to try it with a darker beer next time. I also did what another reviewer suggested, and I reduced the pan juices by half and added 1 bottle of my favorite BBQ sauce-instead of using the ketchup and brown sugar, etc. It was so yummy! I only had time to marinate the pork for about 1.5 hours and it was still tender and flavorful. This recipe is professional level- and you don't need any ridiculous equipment to make it- no grill or smoker required, plus making perfect pulled pork in only about 4 hours is pretty amazing too! I used a 4.5 lb pork shoulder, and it made enough to serve about 5 people hearty portions. This is a truly economical meal (my pork only cost me 8$. I also think this freezes well- so don't be afraid to make it just because you have a small family or are cooking for one. Thanks again for this recipe- I can;t wait to make it for company, I'm gonna be a Rockstar!!

Bar none - the best pulled pork recipe out there! To make this recipe even easier, I use Emeril's seasoning (that I make in bulk for the dry rub. I also cheat and use 1/2 a bottle of smokey bbq sauce combined with the pan juices and reduced by half. Delicious!
