Sure the cilantro tastes good, but it doesn't do anything different.

I thought this was so good because it really had a lot of flavor. The spices gave it more depth than your average bean soup. It was so easy, just browning the bacon in the same pan that you make the soup in. Open a few cans and this soup was done in 30 minutes! My two boys even ate it and they are sometimes difficult to please.
I would recommend this soup to anyone who wants good soup fast! Good job, Dave

So thick - it's more like a chili than a soup. It's very easy to make - and very tasty. I used fire-roasted tomatoes (from whole foods - which I will definitely use again.

This "soup" is very, very tasty. I made it for friends and they all loved it and wanted the recipe. It is actually more like a chili than a soup but that doesn't make a difference. My one tip is to just fry the bacon whole, take out bacon but leave grease to do the rest of the recipe and then crumble the bacon back in at the end. It says time chopping the bacon into small pieces and also ensures that you don't either undercook or burn the bacon when cooking everything else.

I made this soup for dinner for my family, everyone loved it including my 7 year old picky eater. He likes bacon, so I called it "bacon soup." I followed the instructions pretty exactly, except I made it with turkey bacon and added a bottle of Liberty Ale with the chicken stock. Rich flavor, warm and filling.

I made the soup according to the recipe but it was very thick, more like a chili than a soup. I very much enjoyed the soup, but only after I added a lot more chicken broth than it called for. Has anyone else experienced the soup being too thick? I tend to like soup on the thicker side, but this seemed to have been written wrong.

We love Black Bean Soup and this is probably the best that I have ever made. The smoky bacon really makes it. I highly recommend this soup!
