Yum, yum, yum. Simple, smoky, delish. Make sure to cut the bacon in small pieces unless you want to knaw on big pieces of bacon fat. We didn't have worcestershire sauce so we used a bit of soy sauce and it turned out fabulously. YUM! We'll make again!

This soup was delicious! Even one of my more finicky eaters reluctantly tried it and then went back for more! The cooking time seemed less than what is stated in the recipe. I love Dave and the show! Keep up the good work.

This was not advertised as a healthy recipe, but just happens to be healthy and low calorie. I didn't actually put 10 slices of bacon, only 5. This recipe doesn't list this, but I added an extra can or 2 of water to make it more soupy (like what he explained on the show.

This was an easy recipe to make, that didn't take a lot of time - so it's great for me to take to lunch for work. Because I keep kosher, I made two varieties, one without any meat product at all, and just used some olive oil instead for the fat, the other variety I used a smoked meat (any would do - salami, smoked pastrami, etc. I also substituted the canned beans for dry - it's a little bit cheaper, and each time you soak the beans, it helps remove the negative "gas side effect" that happens with the canned variety. The more times you soak and replace the water on the beans, the better! Otherwise excellent recipe! LOVED IT!

Wrote down the recipe from memory after watching this show. Made it. I used 1 can of the black beans and 3 different others, all the rest the same as recipe. This soup came out absolutely fabulous!!! I was very, very impressed with just the simple basic base. Excellent, easy and delicious! Thank you David!!!!

I'm not much of a soup eater, much less a black bean soup eater...however this soup is awesome! I let mine simmer an hour longer than in the recipe to let the flavors really fuse together.

First lemme say that I am horrible at cooking. If I can burn I've burned it. The microwave is like my best friend. However after watching Dave's show it looked easy to make so I gave it a whirl. While I didnt fine cut the garlic as much as I wanted too Dave's directions were hella easy to follow. I made this soup for my Filipino folks and apparently I must have made it right for even my father liked it (and anything I make for him is always too salty lol. I really encourage everyone to at least try to make this soup. It's very hearty and rich and perfect for winter. It's awesome with a bowl of rice and any kind of bread.

Thanks Food Network and Dave for a bomb recipe!
