I forgot the ketchup and the worcestershire, but the taste still came out great. I think in the future I'll be sure to cut the onion finer and actually press the garlic (rather than just rough-mince it for a better look.

This soup came out wonderfully, though it still needs some tweaking, depending on your tastes. The show calls for enough water to cover the beans, but I don't remember seeing that in the recipe (I did do this anyway, though. Another thing that I might have just missed is the lime juice, which it calls for, but I don't remember seeing when to put it in (I did right when it started to boil. If you want more broth, I suggest adding the one can, then adding enough water to cover the beans, followed by another can. I haven't tried this version yet myself, but this seems like what the recipe needed. Also, let the pot simmer with a lid on for about an hour and a half; this will allow the ingredients to get really tender, and also let the soup mingle its flavors together.

One thing I definately liked about this recipe is that it has the chili con carne effect of being tastier left over.

This was my first time making black bean soup and I will keep this recipe forever! This soup is better than anything I've had at a restaurant. I put about 1/3 of the soup in the blender before adding the cilantro to add some thickness. Awesome!

This is the salad dressing recipe
Mayo, grainy dijon mustard, good olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and a little salt and pepper. I just played with the amounts and also added a little fresh orange juice. Whisk or shake together. REALLY good with a little grilled tuna on a salad. The soup was very good but I used less bacon and spiced it up a little hotter. I really like this new show!

This soup is fantastic. It?s quick and easy to make but the flavor is big and bold. When I was watching the show I thought that four cans of beans would be one can too many. But it turns out that you need all four cans. I pureed a cup of the beans.

BTW, the ingredient list includes the juice from half of a lime but the instructions never tell you to add it to the pot. IMHO, the lime juice is necessary. The soup just isn't as good without it.

This is the first time I made black bean soup and found this recipe very tasty and hardy. Serve with spicey corn muffins. It was delicious and easy to make.

This was really easy to make. I cut the amount of bacon in half and it had plenty of the desired smoky taste. If you like black beans, you can't beat it!

This recipe is simply delicious - even my VERY picky 12 year old loves it. I used (organic Glen Muir fire-roasted diced tomatoes and it was fabulous!
