Absolutely outstanding! I cut back a tad on the chili powder to satisfy my daughter's tastes, and added a bit more broth, but followed everything else exactly, This is by far the best black bean soup I have ever tasted. FANTASTIC.

LOVE IT! I made it a couple days ago. I let mine stew a little too long, so it got really think like chili. Next time I'll just add in more chicken stock so it doesn't thicken as much. I had no clue by the ingredients that it was going to be so amazing, but I'm SO happy I tried it. It's going to be made often in my house! Thanks Dave!

Love it, more like a chilli consistency. I use 3 cans of black bean instead of 4. Also, if you have thick fatty bacon cook 1 or 2 minutes more instead of the 4 minutes it says so you wont be chewing of fatty pieces when eating it. Great recipe my entire family loves it!

Agree with the almost unanimous 5 star. Outstanding. Definitely needs double or tripe chicken stock, otherwise it's like chili. Try adding 2 tsp. curry powder for more complexity.

My husband likes black beans.. I do not!.. Well this soup is absolutely delicious. I cut the recipe in half for just the 2 of us. I did add some chorizo just to add a bit more flavor & spice. That was all I did.. I will definetely make this again.

This has become one of my specialties, but with one adjustment. I prefer to use dried beans that have been soaked and drained rather than canned. The canned beans add a starchiness that I don't care for; whereas the dried beans seem to soak up the flavor of the soup better. Other than that, this is hearty enough for a cold winter night or can be fancy enough for company. So delicious!

VERY EASY! VERY QUICK! VERY DELICIOUS! It was a very cold day and I really was looking for a chili or stoup, but I did not have the time. I stumbled on this and made it in less than an hour after work. It was so easy that I was wondering if it would really taste good. It was great! This is a must try.

Yummy! I did switch a few things: drained beans (mostly, 16 oz chicken broth, traded chopped tomatoes for two cans diced fire roasted tomatoes with juices, used juice of whole lime, simmered 50 min total. Thanks, super recipe!
