I made this yesterday and my husband called me to tell me how amazing it was and that the kids loved it too! It was quick and easy to make and a definite keeper. I used prosciutto instead of bacon.

Delicious!!! Just made this. It was a very rustic (chunky soup so I put it in the food processor. Absolutely delicious!!! Next time I might blend the liquid before adding the beans. Highly recommend this recipe!!!!!

This soup is sooooooo good! I served it up in bread bowls and it was a huge hit! What great flavor, and the lime juice brightens the flavor considerably.
I need to stress that the bacon needs to be cut very small, because if you just chop the slices, you will get some white bacon fat chunks. I also drained most of the bacon fat off after rendering and before adding the onion.

perfect, and I'm chicana! I've made this for years and its always a big hit! It can be a main dish or side. I serve it as a side to Enchiladas. Top the whole thing off with a Corona and you've got a really tasty meal.

Like the recipe. Easy to do. However, I did not get the bacon as well cooked as I would have like. Still showing white bacon fat. Next time, I will use a skillet and scrap it all into the soup pot.

    Wonderful flavor.

This soup is great! This is the third time I've made it. I add a little less bacon. After I add the beans, I let this soup simmer for about a half hour, covered. About 10 minutes after the beans are added, I take a potato masher and coarsly mash up some of the beans in the pot. SO DELICOUS! It's a MUST-TRY! Ps. Dont forget the lime.
