I have made bread puddings at various restaurants I have worked at but this recipe specifically using Challah Bread made all the difference. I'm not a big on raisins so I cut them out completely and cut the chocolate by a 1/3. I have a bread maker and have become a Challah Bread guru since acquiring my new toy. My guests loved it as much as I and I found my cousin (who was visiting from out of town sneaking another plate at two AM!!! I would recommend this to anyone. Enjoy!!

This IS sinfully delicious, however, I would use 1 inch slices of challah and no bigger than a 9 x 13 inch pan, otherwise, the liquid does not absorb all the way through the challah. Kids and adults alike loved this recipe! Would definitely make it again!

This is soooo yummy! Definitely receives 2 thumbs up from this chocoholic. If you're any bit uncertain about the raisins - leave them in anyway. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about them - and you don't even notice them - so I imagine the sweetness from them added to the greatness of the recipe. The sauce is the BEST! I'm making it again for Thanksgiving - I know they're going to love it!

Warning:This dessert is like crack for chocolate lovers!
My whole family is in love with this dessert so much so I have to look away from the challah bread at the grocery store or it 'ends up' in the grocery cart and since I have all the other ingredients sitting at home (I buy semi-sweet chocolate in bulk : , we always end up making it--not the best idea for a mom trying to lose baby weight. But it's still so so so good; I just can't stop making it and eating it!
I did add some cinnamon to the custard and we use dried cranberries instead of raisons (kids' preference I am betting it would rock with dried cherries too!

The bread he used is usually expensive in most markets first of all. Even if it's leftover - it's often dry when used in bread puddings and this was no exception. Also raisins and chocolate? Just ok.

Made this for Mother's Day. Everyone loved it. I substituted dried cranberries for the raisins.
