These were fantastic! I brought them to work and had multiple people say it was the only time they have ever liked something cooked with beer. I followed the recipe exactly except that I cut the frosting in half, as per another reviewer's recommendation, and the proportions worked out perfectly.

Hotdamn! These are really good! I'm not usually a fan of beer-based desserts, but these are SO good. Super moist, subtle flavoring. I used Sam Adams Chocolate Stout instead of guiness and used a Bailey's cream frosting for the adults and regular white frosting for the kids. YUM! I had my hub taste test one, and he would up 'trying' another. :-

Tasty, Moist, and Flavorful! I exchanged the Stout for Root Beer. Just Perfect!

I made these as regular sized and mini cupcakes and they are amazing. The cake is moist, spongy, and dense. I added 3 ounces of Baker's semisweet chocolate (melted to the wet ingredients before I added the eggs for extra chocolatey goodness and topped with a dark chocolate buttercream. I also used Sam Adams cream stout instead of Guinness because I already had some at home. I'm no expert cake baker (have made cupcakes or cake about three times in my life but these were delicious and easy!

made with a Polish Breakfast Stout in place of Guinness. Also nixed the cream cheese frosting and topped with a light honey frosting. Served at a "beer and bacon" pairing I hosted. The aroma of the Stout was fantastic. Thanks again Dave!

I'm glad I read reviews. I followed cupcake recipe exactly but made my own icing. We loved the outcome. The cake is dense. Three people who tried them described them as "meaty". We all agreed that they were awesome, "different", perhaps something we hadn't known we were missing. I made a classic cream cheese icing, just sweet, and added a touch of cocoa . I had enough icing to heartily ice all 24 cupcakes with some left over for the kids to mooch, then finished by dusting the 'cakes with freshly grated dark (70% chocolate. Amazing. We'll be making these again, with a great pot of coffee!

These were awesome! I made them for my husband's birthday beer tasting party and they went great with the theme. The cake was moist and the frosting delicious. I refrigerated the frosting for a little bit before putting it on the cupcakes to thicken it up so I was able to get a nice swirl design. Will definitely make these again!

Made these for St. Patty's Day. Followed the recipe exactly, just used a different cream cheese frosting recipe. The cupcake wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The beer taste wasn't over or under whelming, which is good. However, it just "didn't rock my boat." Definitely smells like beer when you're about to take a bite. My bf thought they were AMAZING though! He wants them with mocha frosting, lol. Overall, I think it's a cool use for leftover stout, but not a fave.
