I didn't feel like making a bunch of cupcakes so I made it into a one big cake and one small cake and it turned out wonderfully and moist despite the fact that I messed up in the mixing. I did not realize that the heavy cream and confectioner's sugar was suppose to be for the frosting until I had the two cakes in the overn. I had mixed them into the wet mixture batch. I was really worried once I discovered what I had done, but the cakes turned out marvelously and no one is the wiser to my error.

I wasn't too sure at first, but the cupcakes durned out wonderfully moist and rich. I did change the icing though, I used 1/4 cup cream and 1/4 cup sour cream instead of full cup of cream. Gave the shole thing a wounderful tang that complimented the richness of the cup cake. Gone in sixty seconds!!

I see some of you have had trouble with the butter forming lumps - to avoid this, make sure your Guinness is at room temperature. When you buy the 6 pack, take one bottle out, and store it in a cupboard, not the refrigerator. Also make sure your melted butter is not too hot. Let it cool down for a few seconds if necessary.
Wonderfully moist and tasty, definitely a treat for grownups. Went down very well at a St Patrick's Day party, so well that I only got to eat one!

I made these today and they are fabulous!!! I made 1 dozen and then used the rest of the batter to make mini-muffin versions to take to a St Pattys party. The icing is nothing like I've ever tasted! Out of this world! These might end up becoming my signature cupcake! :o

These are just beautiful and deeply chocolate. Since I made the cupcakes for a St. Patty's party, I placed a small shamrock cookie cutter on top of the icing and filled it will green sugar. Quite a hit with the guests!

It is the glass bottles, says Guiness draught on the package and bottles. The dark one.
These cupcakes were awesome. My hubby didn't think they would be good. He tried them and loved them. I brought them to work and they were gone in seconds. They really are the best cupcakes I have had.
    Happy St. Patrick;s Day!!!!

Question - there are different types of guiness, I'm assuming this one calls for the actual stout and not just the regular kind that is a bit lighter? Does anyone know?
    Thanks!

Cupcakes were bitter. Really disappointed in results. Through out the whole lot of them.
