I was very nervous about this one... I had no idea what to expect. I used ricotta because I couldn't find farmer's cheese anywhere, and it was amazing! Even the toddlers loved this one! We've been eating it on toast and dipping apples in it ever since! It kind of reminds me of cinnamon raisin cream cheese - a healthier, higher protein version of it!

Personally... I LOVED it! Such a pleasant flavor... and absolutely delicious on a sesame cracker flat. If you don't like unique things... don't bother trying this... but if you have an affinity for unfamiliar things that have unique flavors... this one's for you.

I enjoyed this "spread". I made it with pecans and cranberries b/c I prefer those to walnuts and raisins (I don't think exact ingredients matter that much with this dish so put in what you like. It was good - I thoroughly enjoyed it and will make it again. I agree it's not a "wow" dish, but it's very comforting and super easy to make (I didn't bother with toasting the nuts b/c I always end up burning the nuts. I also tried it with ricotta the second time but I think that tastes better without the broiling step (i.e. cold. To the reviewer who wanted to know how long to broil it, I'd say not more than 2-3 minutes (as the recipie says. More than that and you'll burn the nuts.

OK, this is a question not a review. I swear when I watched this recipe he said to bake it at 400 degrees for 20 minutes (which sounded extreme and now I see the posted recipe merely calls for the dish to be broiled for a couple of minutes. Did the reviewers follow the televised or the posted recipe?

This recipe looked really good on the show. When I tried it I found it was certainly very easy to do. The problem was that I didn't much like the final product. My guests said they liked it but there was a noticeable lack of enthusiasm.
For me the problem is the farmer's cheese. I haven't worked with it before and it's similar to Ricotta -- bland but with a bit more texture than Ricotta. When it's heated the texture gets even more pronounced and less cheeselike.
So my final take is this: I loved the walnuts, raisins, etc. They tasted great. Next time I'll use 8 ounces of cheap plain old cream cheese and add walnuts, raisins, honey, etc. I'll mix them in but I won't heat the mixture. I think it will be very tasty -- and even cheaper!

I took another user's suggestion and served with chopped apples as a kind of apple salad. It was wonderful with a warm nutty flavor

I used ricotta b/c that's what I had. Dried apricots instead of raisins for the same reason. It was great!! Could really be a "savory" dessert course.
