I really liked this recipe...I skipped the brandy, because I had everything else on hand. I also eye-balled the measurements.

Unlike other reviewers, I thought the balance of apples to crumble was perfect. I also used granny smith apples because this is what I had on hand...the tartness and crispness was perfect with the amount of sugar, so that could help with people saying the apples were mushy or that the dessert was too sweet.

I followed the receipt exact expect I omitted the brandy and used unsweated apple juice instead. The apples were very soft and tasty but between the apples and the sugar in the topping it is VERY sweat. Also, the ingredience makes to much topping for the amount of apples it calls for. If I were to make it again, I would reduce the sugar to 3/4 c and cut the topping down by half. It bake for 45 mins and came out just right. I also used melted butter on top instead of the cubes, it makes the topping carmalize and taste great!

Too much Topping for the amount of apple mixture and too much sugar in the apple mixture.

This is a great recipe and very easy to make. I made it for friends and they loved it, it was so delicious especially if it's hot and served with ice cream or custard sauce!!

This is a great, quick recipe that everyone enjoys. Most of the ingredients are usually on hand, so it is a perfect last-minute-company-coming-over staple. The only thing I wish is that I had some leftover.

I made this without the extra 1cup sugar or cinnamon added to the apples and it was delicious. Tasted like apples are supposed to taste.
