I love this recipe. I live in a high altitude and these cookies bake up puffy. Just don't overmix the flour in. As soon as the dough holds together stop mixing!I let mine rest in the fridge (rolled up 12- 24 hours before cutting and baking. I cut out the clove and to the chocolate cookies added 1/2 tsp almond extract with the vanilla. Then I made a slight impression after slicing them and put one tsp of orange marmalade on them. What a hit! Today I am making them plain sugar but, with ground pecans. Yum!

maybe I did something wrong, but I had problems with this dough, and I bake alot so I couldnt figure out the problem,my family is eating them, but the cloves are too overpowering, usually Dave is right on target.

I was almost dissuaded by the number of stars this had, but I peeked at the reviews and saw only two, so I gave it a go.

The cookies are delicious. The sugar cookies are plain and a tad boring, but the other options are fabulous. I also made a dark chocolate-ginger-spice version, with candied ginger, dark chocolate, cinnamon, allspice and fresh grated nutmeg. Ridiculously good, ridiculously easy. I made two kinds of cookies instead of three out of one recipe of the dough.
