made this tonight and it was great! i cooked the flour and veg a bit (as i'm used to doing with a butter/flour roux before adding everything else. next time i'll try doing it with bacon instead of butter as others have suggested. this recipe is easily adaptable to individual cook's tastes. leave out the "clam" and juice and use leeks instead of onion and you've got a great potato soup as well...just add a bit more of the stock (another cup, cup and 1/2 would work.
quick and easy...great for week nite cooking!

The recipe was so easy to follow and it turned out great! I only had two 6.5 ounce cans of whole clams (that I chopped so I adjusted the recipe accordingly. My family likes thick clam chowder so I added a little more flour.

What happens when a girl from Iowa marries a guy from Baltimore? She goes in search of a clam chowder recipe. Now I can make anything from a pig a cow or an ear of corn, but seafood is a different story. This was just shut my mouth good! My hubby loved it and took the leftovers to work today. I listened to other reviewers and cooked some bacon and used the renderings to cook the veggies, yum. I also added a carrot because I had one. It was thick and delicious. The hubby puts Old Bay seasoning on everything so I added some. Make this!

This was very easy to make. I didn't have any celery, so not sure if it would have made a difference. My husband likes his chowder thick so I added some instant mashed potatoes.

We didn't alter a thing with this recipe; it was so simple and absolutely delicious. No frills made for a rich, tasty weeknight go-to--we made this on a Sunday and heated it through for Monday...perfection!
