Just made this, half recipe, without the greenbeans. Turned out so much better than I expected. Can't wait to make it again! :

I have been looking for a stew recipe that gave me the taste I was looking for. I've finally found it!! This is easy & tasty. I didn't have any fresh veggies so at the last 5 minutes I added canned green beans & carrots with the juice. I also didn't have Rosemary & used Tarragon. Like my stew a bit thicker & used Velotine. Delicious!!! It's a keeper....

Wonderful, tasty and perfect for the cooler months! I have made this recipe several times since I found it 2 years ago. I consider it comfort food! I have made some changes to it. I have reduced the wine to only a 1/3 of the recipe and substitute the rest with chicken broth. I've also added sliced mushrooms and they seem to work well.

I have been making this stew in double batches since I originally made it for a "relaxed" dinner party; but it freezes well and tastes even better reheated.

Ok, this recipe ROCKS! I couldn't stop eating it, neither could my family! Husband and 4 daughters ages 7,6,2,and 1 tore this dinner up. They ALL had seconds. I Did add mushrooms and garlic for added flavor. I also salted the veggies batch by batch as I added them to the pot. It was really GREAT.

After browning the meat and letting it cool, I tossed all the ingredients into our crock pot. This is the first beef stew recipe that my kids liked. Very tasty and easy.

The broth in this in amazing. Plus you can use this as a base recipe and then add or take away things. I used shallots instead of onions, cause I had them and I added celery. I left the potatoes out and just made mashed potatoes and spooned the stew over them. I also added mushrooms toward the end. Delicious

Great stew recipe. I've made it as written and it was delicious. I've also tinkered with it by adding a whole 28oz can of crushed tomatoes because I like to have a little more "tomatoey" taste. When I didn't have green beans, I've added frozen corn or peas. Sometimes I also throw in a little minced garlic, or substitute bay leaves and thyme for the rosemary. It always comes out great. The sauce has just a wonderful depth of flavor.

This is one of the best stews ever. I make it the day before I serve to allow the flavors to blend and intensify. I also double the receipe because in my house it goes quickly. Well worth the time to make and serve.
