This stew was great, I halved the recipe since it was just me eating it, and it came out fantastic. So rich and flavorful! I ended up using Lambrusco for the wine and I'm so glad I did.

Easy recipe to follow. Don't forget to cut the green beans into shorter lengths.

I love this stew. I didn't have green beans on hand, but I made mine with celery, frozen peas, and cipollini onions. You really can't go wrong with this recipe. Nothing smells much better than beef and red wine cooking. My husband and friends loved it.

I brought this to a Christmas party last weekend and it was a hit with everyone...especially the men! I made it a day ahead, which I would recommend, because the meat was even more tender the second day. I also used a little less of the wine (as suggested by some reviewers.

I loved this recipe! The red wine really makes the dish, but make sure to use a wine you would drink because it will pull from that flavor. I used Yellowtail shiraz-cabernet... great cooking wine. I did have to add a little cornstarch/water in the end as a thickener. Still, a great recipe!

Makes a ton of great beef stew-great for winter days. I used pearl onions and added frozen peas as well. Yummy.

I made this stew on a rare COLD Houston night, and it was the absolute best stew I've ever had. My kids aren't a fan of beef stew, but the smell in my kitchen had them coming in and out asking when it was going to be ready. I went by the recipe... except I used fresh tomatoes and small red potatoes, and fresh everything for that matter. Used a Shiraz wine that gave it the best color and rich taste I couldn't keep away from the stew pot!
Best stew ever!

This is an AMAZING beef stew! In response to other reviews, I used 3 TSP of flour & cut the red wine down to a little more than 1 cup. It cooked down perfectly & had a wonderful thick consistency. And it is RICH RICH RICH!!! So delicious. It will be a favorite at our house for years to come.
On a side note, I used Trader Joe's "Two Buck Chuck" cab sauv for the wine & it worked VERY well. A good tip for those who are working on a budget. ^^

I made this for myself and 4 teenagers and we all loved it! It was cost effective and fun to make, too. I'm going to give the recipe to my friend today.
