This was very simple to put together and was much better than the last stew I made. You can use a little less wine if you prefer, as it does give a slight wine taste - but still GOOD!

this stew had a fantastic flavor & was relatively simple to make - the only thing is that it is definitely soupier than i would have liked a "stew" to be. i will make again but will reduce the amount of liquid & maybe add a bit more salt. it had really good flavor though & great for a hearty autumn dinner. be sure to have some crusty bread on hand for dipping!

This is a pretty yummy beef stew. Cooking it with the wine and rosemary really gives it a wonderful and rich flavor.
I read other reviews about the sauce being too watery and adjusted the liquids a bit. Sauce came out great.
The stew was a great hit!

Unbelievably great beef stew. I have tried more recipes for beef stew over the past 20yrs and none of them have been this good. I used a Cabernet Sauvignon and it adds an incredible richness and tanginess to the broth. This recipe would be so easy to double or triple for a big crowd. Next time I make it I'm going to add some mushrooms in with the onion/carrot mixture. This will forever be my go to beef stew recipe. Also, it would make a great base for a beef barley, rice, or noodle soup!! Thanks Dave!!

I really thought this was an amazing beef stew. I noticed everyone's reviews about it not being thick enough so I added 4 T of flour instead of 2 and it turned out great! I also added mushrooms when I was browning the beef and some garlic and celery to the onions and carrots! The best part was the bread bowl I put it in.....amazing! This stew in a bread bowl was really really good.

This recipe was so wonderful and easy to make. My husband told me I was a wonderful cook after this meal...we are newly weds...I picked an oaky red wine. I think the quality of wine plays hand in hand with the taste.

This is a great dish on a cold frosty night. I used frozen pearl onions instead of chopped onion and added a few drops of Worstershire sauce. The dish was fragrant with Rosemary. Will try another herb next time for variety. I also thought the final result was more like a soup than a stew. I remedied that with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons of water or broth. Add to "soup" and bring to a boil and stir until thickened and becomes a "stew".
