This was a pretty easy and delicious recipe for a snow storm. The broth is so flavorful that I found the meat and potatoes in need of an extra level of flavor. Next time I'm going to try to marinate the meat in the red wine and spices in advance. Otherwise, terrific recipe! Made it with buttermilk biscuits. Yum.

When I made this it was good, but felt that it was lacking something. The next day my boyfriend heated it for lunch and added some sun-dried tomatoes and it was delicous. Some food for thought!

I added almost twice as much rosemary - bad idea. I only had Merlot and used that instead of "dry red wine" - and it seems as if it was missing a "kick" of some sorts.

My mouth still waters just thinking about this stew! I made it this evening and let me tell you.. the flavor combination is flawless! I used Amarone Valpolcella as the wine of choice in the stew... it gave a bold aroma and flavor, making this stew very hearty! I will definitely be keeping this recipe close by! My husband loved it! We added some french bread for dipping. Absolutely amazing!

This is some of the best I've ever eaten and I've eaten a lot. I added a bay leaf and sub'd Lima Beans for the Green Beans. Once you start soppin up the broth with french bread you can't stop. This is it!

I didn't expect the end results to be so good. I used peas instead of green beans cause thats what my husband likes, but it had a great taste. Thanks I know I will be making this again.

As someone self employed and working long hours, I had the luxury of not having to cook. I finally decided to try my hand at homemade meals. On a finally cold day in California, I decided to make stew. I entered boiled beef and came up with this terrific recipe. My husband thought I found some great take-out place selling "comfort food". Thank you so much for this truly great dish. Oh, I did change it a bit and added 2 cloves of garlic as we both love the stuff. Thank you Dave Lieberman.

I was a little skeptical when i saw this recipe, but once i tried it, i knew i would definitely make again. I just made a few changes, instead of using the dry red wine, which I didn't have, i used worchestershire sauce, I also added some fresh parsley, and it turned out great. Thanks dave....
