this was the most delicious thing i've ever cooked. the sourdough bread really makes a difference in the stuffing (i got a sourdough loaf from panera and it was delicious. i followed others' suggestions of cutting down the chicken stock, just a bit. it was a hit with everyone who tried it and i plan on making it for holidays from now on.
thanks dave!!

I made Thanksgiving dinner for the 1st time this year, and was worried about the stuffing - whether to stuff the bird or not, what type of stuffing to use, etc. We are a very traditional family and we ALWAYS stuff the bird. Well, I made Alton's roast turkey and Dave's stuffing, cooked in a baking dish. Everyone went crazy over the stuffing, it is so good, and sooo easy. This is 100 times better than any boxed stuffing mix, with the same traditional flavors my family loves. Super easy to make, and it will be great stuffed in the bird, too. My mom is going to make it for Christmas dinner!

Great recipe. Quick and easy. I followed the recommendation to cut back on the chicken stock and it turned out great.

I've never made stuffing before but this stuffing tasted wonderful with our Thanksgiving dinner. The only thing I would change is to add less liquid as it was a bit soggy in the end. The flavor was excellent though. Will definitely make for many more Thanksgivings to come!

My daughter never liked any kind of stuffing until I tried this recipe. Now she requested I make it for her husband and in-laws this year. Thanks.

I made this for Shabbat dinner on Friday & it was delicious. My husband & I keep kosher so I had to change up the recipe a bit. I used Nucoa parve margarine in place of the butter & Osem chicken consomme in place of the low-sodium chicken broth. I also used crusty white bread in place of the sourdough (would have preferred sourdough but couldn't find a kosher loaf in time. I am not a big fan of mushrooms so I chopped them in my food processor to make them less noticeable. Other than that, I stuck to the recipe. Next time I am planning on trying it with challah in place of the sourdough. Everyone loved this dish & I will definitely make it again.

Went to a pot luck dinner and EVERYONE ate up my stuffing! It's a new favorite. I used another type of bread, french like from Trader Joes, turned out fantastic!
