Not for us! We followed the recipe to a tee as well, but found the five spice overpowering, and the recipe otherwise, bland. I also prefer moister wings, and these came out pretty dry. Hoped that the dipping sauce would help, but there was no flavor in that either. Never making this recipe again.

My boyfriend is a very picky eater and to my surprise, he loved this one even though he doesn't care for spicy foods! I plan on using it on Drumsticks next time and adding a touch of salt to the recipe for flavor. In addition, keeping water in a bowl in the oven while cooking, keeps the grease splatter(from the skin and smoke in the oven to a minimum.

I love spicy chicken wings but these just left me feeling unfulfilled. I dutifully cut all 20 wings into their appropriate wing pieces with the prospect of a tasty, zingy wing at the end. Instead, the wings had a bit of spice but that was it on the flavor end. Perhaps I needed to add more salt but that can't account for the complete lack of flavor. The dipping sauce was very flavorful though. I'll use that bit in the future.

I accidently cooked the wings too long, but had the oven at 450. While they were a bit dry due to my neglect, they were still fantastic! I couldn't believe how easy they were to prepare. I loved the dip and used the leftovers on my 7 layer dip instead of the usual sour cream. The dip is great as is or can be changed up (I added minced onion. Great recipe.

this is the best quickest most delicious recipe...
I am a fan of cooking new different tasting meals.
I didn't have the 5 spice , so I made it with all spice, you can adjust the pepper as much as you like...
it is so easy and quick to prepare, my wings were not dry at all...
you can also make it with any parts of the chicken, thighs will be great..
you can make it any time you were not prepared....
the wings don't even need the sauce....
dont compare it with the usual hot wings, it is something different... great taste by itself....

These were good, but very different from your traditional fiery wings recipe. Most hot wing recipes are moist (almost lick-your-fingers sticky on the outside - these, however, are dry on the outside (but moist in the inside. Its a matter of preference, but I've always loved the wings moist with the hot sauce. So I wouldn't make these wings again. But the dip was very good and super simple. I would make the dip but with another wing recipe.

I love Chinese 5-spice so of course I loved this. It is even good cold the next day. Some of my guests were less than thrilled, but that is OK since I had more leftovers for me. If you don't have Chinese 5-spice, try it with any bottled spice mix-Emerill's Bayou Blast was fabulous. So are the grill seasoning combos. I think the 500-degree heat does the trick. YUMM!!!!
