I loved this recipe but had to make a few changes. I used chili flakes instead of jalapenos since I had none on hand, used pineapple instead of mango (allergic! and did add cilantro to the salsa and a bit extra to the rice. Wow! So tasty. It had some heat, but just the right amount. As all of the other reviewers said, the sauce is so good, it really needs to be doubled. The recipe proportions leaves one wanting more. All in all a good balance of flavors, spicy, sweet and tart. The rice is excellent and the salsa helps to tame the spice and gives it that extra something.

I used cilantro instead of the basil and added some lime juice to the rice.
I don't know if I missed something but the salsa was not spicy. It was still great. Next time I will double the recipe for the marinade, there was definitely not enough sauce. I didn't find it very spicy but still enjoyed. We will definitely make it again and may try it with chicken. Like one of the previous posters said, you could just cook the shrimp and use them as an appetizer.

I tried this one tonight. Man this is a simple delicious recipe. The only thing I think I will change/add are a few more peppers. It didn't quite have the zip I was hoping for. Other than that this is a new favorite for me!!!

My husband said these were the best tasting shrimp he had ever had. You could even just cook the shrimp and use them as an appetizer for entertaining.

I made this last night for the first time but made some changes--it was great! I used 3 chicken breasts cut into small strips. I made the following adjustments to the marinade: 1/2 cup lite coconut milk, 3 cloves garlic minced, 3 1/2 Tablespoons light brown suger, 3 1/2 Tablespoons lite soy sauce, 1 inch piece of ginger grated. I also added extra pepper and extra lime zest. It was wonderful, especially as leftovers. I will try it next time with cilantro.

salsa
wonderful fresh flavor.i also tried it with cilantro instead of basil and it works equally well.
Shrimp
Great complex and spicy flavor. again it works well with cilantro instead of basil
next time i may try grilling the shrimp on the bbq
all in all the whole recipe was delicious and relatively simple to make, provided you have the ingredients on hand.

Wonderful combinations of flavors and very simple. Served w/ plain white rice (not Jasmine rice to cut back on the calories and I still loved every bite. Didn't produce as much sauce as I would have liked - may increase the recipe next time.

Made this for husband & 21 year old son. Both loved it. Husband thought it was a little spicy but son & myself thought it was just right. The only change I will do next time is to add some toasted coconut to both shrimp & rice before serving. We love coconut!

Made this for a dinner party and it was an absolute hit! Excellent flavors, it was wonderful, I used tiger shrimp and doubled the marinade for more sauce but other than that followed it to the letter. It was fantastic, definitely will make again.

I loved this recipe!! It was easy to make and was a great change. I didn't make the salsa but instead used store bought mango & peach salsa. I usually don't like this kind of salsa but it was the perfect touch to this meal. I suggest serving it with some garlic bread to break up the sweetness some.
