I am a young cook, and I wanted to make these cookies for my dad. I was confused by the recipe, as it said to drain the kumquats, but I didn't know which part to keep, the kumquats or the syrup mixture. I put the kumquats in it, but the rest of it was very very dry and crumbly, so I'm not sure I did it right... What I came up with was very good, but I don't think it's the same as the recipe says, and I'm not sure what I did wrong... I'm confused, Justin, please clarify your recipe! Rooting for you, and hope you win on Sunday!

This is just the kind of fun recipe that keeps foodies like me coming to FN. Quesiton: shouldn't the kumquats be chopped before adding?
