This cake was tasty and I reduced the amount of soda because my cake mix package was a little smaller. I mixed devil's food cake and Dr. Pepper 10.

Tried this today using chocolate cake mix and diet coke, Great taste, very light. I noticed that the recipe calls for a box of cake mix 18.25oz. I did notice not all cake mixes were 18.25 oz. This may be the reason one posters cake cut messy.
I will never make a cake using eggs and oil again.

Excellent flavor and texture, but my cake cut very messy. I think I will bake the cake in individual mini loaf pans next time, to avoid the messy slicing. I used yellow cake mix with peach flavored Fresca. Delicious! Served it with a little powdered sugar, fat-free whipped topping and jarred sliced peaches.

I have been eating this type of cake for years, it is wonderful and easy. My favorite is strawberry cake mix with diet strawberry soda, Vanilla cake mix with diet orange soda and Lemon cake mix with lemon-lime soda with a lemon glaze.

OMG!!! agree, I will not make a cake with oil and eggs again. I used a diet red rasberry soda with chocolate cake mix. My family raved about it and have no idea it is a swap out version. I'm not telling.

Very good and moist. I try it with Strawberry Cake Mix and Diet Lemon-Lime Soda. I'll definitely do it again.

Love this cake. My favorite is yellow cake mix with diet lemon-lime soda & I grate lemon zest right into the mix. Delicious!

The first time I made this was for my son's birthday in addition to a blueberry pie that he always wants. He doesn't like high calorie cake and won't eat it if it has icing on it. There were 6 adults and 3 children to taste test the cake and everyone declared it a winner. It was tasty, moist and everyone was amazed that it was only 2 ingredients. I used a box of Devils Food Cake mix and a can of diet root beer because that is all I had and no icing. We could taste the root beer in the cake and we liked that. More flavor.

Everyone went home saying they were going to try baking one of these with their own combinations.

I do plan on trying other combinations, too. Unfortunately, I have found that it is impossible to find diet cream soda in my area. Maybe I'll get my husband to look for some on his next trip to Houston or see if my son can find some in Dallas.
