I have been making this for years. I always used a can of seltzer and it came out very sweet with no after taste. I usually dust it with powdered sugar and serve with berries drizzled with balsamic vinegar, yum

I'm glad to see Hungry Girl show off this easy recipe, and I appreciated her tip on the show about using club soda instead. I've been making Diet Soda Cake for years; I don't remember the last time I made a boxed cake mix using eggs and oil. The soda method is too easy. My favorite combo is diet cola and chocolate cake mix, or diet orange soda with lemon cake mix; it is good plain, or with a dab of whipped topping. I can't wait to try club soda and see how it turns out; it might be nice avoid the sugar substitutes.

I've been doing this for the last couple of years (chocolate cake with diet Dr. Pepper is my favorite! and cannot honestly tell the difference in texture between the soda version and the package directions. If you have to have frosting, add a few drops of almond extract to some lite Cool Whip and spread on top. Another great one to try is strawberry cake mix (I think Pillsbury makes it with diet Sprite or 7-up.

I made this cake and it was so quick and easy, very tasty as well. I found it moist despite not having any eggs or oil. I used chocolate fudge diet soda. I'm making another one of Hungry Girl's cakes tonight, this one gets mixed with canned pumpkin, so far that one smells awesome!

Nice. Never thought to add zero calories to the cake mix! No egg, no oil, no flavorings. Just calorie free soda.

I like that each piece comes to about 170 calories. I'm doing Nutrisystem and they provide for two desserts per day. Each dessert is about 170 calories per piece. But each dessert also costs about 2.25 a piece!

With this cake, I can make twelve dessert sized snacks at 170 calorie a piece. And eat these instead of the Nutrisystems. It's Very cost saving.

Another benefit about this cake is that I have never come across a FASTER recipe for making a cake then this one. This cake should have been called...Bake-Me-a-Cake-As-Fast-As-You- Can

It tastes just like a yellow cake should. It doesn't rise like it would if you baked it with all the other ingredients. I will definitely try it again!
