I used to live and work within a mile of the Eveready and its macaroni and cheese drew rave reviews from my sister (a mac and cheese aficionado. So, when I saw the recipe on FN, I had to make it. I made it a couple of years ago for a group of friends and it was a TREMENDOUS hit. In Eveready fashion, the recipe made a huge amount of macaroni and cheese, but noone seemed to mind taking home leftovers...

Great recipe just DO NOT add the salt!!!! It gets WAY TO SALTY!! Other than that this was the best mac and cheese around.

This was so easy to make and was delicious! I made it a second time and used the cheese I had on hand: Muenster, Extra Sharp Cheddar, and Empire and it was just as good. I got the cheese on sale so it wasn't so expensive. I also made individual portions for a dinner party and it went over well. I recomend the Panko bread crumbs and a light sprinkle of paprika.

I changed the cheeses in this recipe to cheddar, monteray jack, and pepper jack, but kept everything else the same. AWESOME! The recipe is so creamy, and using the pepperjack gives it an extra kick we all love. It has become my go to food for holidays!!

Everyone who has tried this has said. It's perfect for potlucks, cookouts, or parties since it makes a lot and doesn't reheat particularly well. No grittiness as long as you grate your own cheese and fully bake it. I have used Parmesan and cut back on the Romano and Asiago a bit, which gave it a nice "bite." Honestly, I created this account simply to give this recipe 5 stars!!!

I made this for my daughter Kayla as a send off to college. She is a mac and cheese lunatic. Needless to say it was a big hit! So creamy and delicious. Definitely a diet breaker! The Eveready Diner is just 25 minutes north of us and I am tempted to go and compare dishes. Will make this again but do to the HIGH calories, just on special ocasions.

There's nothing wrong with this recipe but it's not special either. It's very heavy -- halve the recipe unless you run a fraternity. The cheese proportions seemed about right but if I were to make this again I'd spice it up with some powdered mustard and maybe something else and I might cut the roux in half.

I have enjoyed this dish at The Eveready Diner, and it is TRULY the best Mac N Cheese in this world! So rich and luscious! If you ever ate the stuff out of the box, after tasting this, you never will again!
