I've been itching for some time to learn how to make barbeque sauce from scratch. Thanks to the Neelys, the itch over. This sauce is delicious! I used regular dijon mustard since that's what I had available. I also added an extra teaspoon or so of fresh lemon juice to cut down on the kick. It turned out very good. I kept going back tasting it and tasting it. If I had kept that up, I wouldn't have any left for my chicken. I"m making some more of this sauce and storing it for my next barbecue dinner. Thanks Neelys. I look forward to trying some of your other recipes.

The first time we tasted this sauce was at Neely's Interstate BBQ restaurant in Memphis last year. It was by far, the best BBQ experience we have ever had. Everything on the menu we had was wonderful, from the BBQ beans, to BBQ Spaghetti to the pulled pork sandwiches. We think you will be extremely pleasantly surprised if you take the time to make this sauce and the BBQ seasoning recipe that you will find posted on this site. We were in despair that we would never be able to duplicate it (we live too far away to go to the restaurant, except on vacation and were deliriously happy when Down Home with the Neelys came on TV and they shared their recipes. Try them, you will LOVE them!

I omitted some of the sugar, added some crushed red papper flakes and got lots of compliments on the sauce! I used it for Paula Dean's pulled pork sandwich recipe and this weekend we are going to use it for BBQ chicken pizza.

I have been looking for a good bbq sauce recipe. I have tried a lot of them, but this one beats them all. I have a big smoker and cook for family dinners and for friends. When someone asks what brand sauce it is, I tell them I made it from scratch. If they push it and want the recipe, I will tell them to go to your site and get it. No need to give away secrets unless you have to. Thanks..Richard U. from WV.

I found this barbeque sauce to be way too sweet. If I were to make it again, I would omit the 5 tablespoons of white sugar.

I was excited to try making my own BBQ sauce, but this recipe was awful. It's all vinegar. Ever time I taste my face contorts into this scary puckered shape. Maybe its just that I don't like vinegar type sauces or something. But this was ridiculous....
