BBQ sauce is a very personal thing. For example, chubby hubbie is from KC - I'm from StL. I was hoping this would be a happy middle ground between his mustardy, tart taste and my sweet inclinations. Also, no. He deemed it too vinegar-y and I have to agree.

I really like this recipe. For my family's tastes was a perfect balance of flavors. I like to experiment with different vinegars and spices for my own tastes

I feel kind of bad to write a bad review on a recipe that has such a great rating but I feel like I have to share my opinion, I made the sauce based on the 5 star rating, I did as directed including babysitting the sauce for 1 hr,15 min and truthfully I dont agree with the reviews, the sauce is far to sweet , when I eat BBQ I want a bold flavor not a sweet and almost tangy flavor, I did notice most reviews did add a little extra of a preferred ingredient to give it the taste they really liked and to be honest thats probably what is needed, however Im am not familiar enough with what extra ingredients I need to add in to make a great BBQ sauce I rely completely on the recipe I have in front of me, I dont ever plan on making this sauce again.

One of the easiest recipes to follow. Seriously all you have to do is combine all the ingredients and simmer. They don't mention this but you can add any type of "spicy" element to give it some extra kick. For instance, I am cooking this right now and added 2 habeneros to a half batch of this and it will be just enough to even tame the Heat Seekers!

Excellent sauce. I kicked mine up a bit - I used chipotle ketchup and cayenne pepper (instead of regular black pepper. I'll be using this again and again. Well worth the boring one hour of stirring.

Have made this recipe exactly as written many times. My only alterations are 1/2 tablespoon liquid smoke [i prefer hickory], 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder, and 2-3 habanero pricked with a fork several times and plucked out when sauce is done simmering. Delicious!

Easy to make and it tasted great! Turned out a little sweet for my taste, so I cut the sweetness a little bit with Worcestershire sauce and Vidalia onion. It was a hit at my office!
