I made this cake for memorial day and my whole family loved it! I did not use Cognac and I used spray whip topping instead of making my own. It was so very good!! My cake was also a little soggy and I only added half of the jello....so maybe thats just the way it is supposed to be. YUM YUM

I think this cake is awesome. I am making it for a banquet and i think it will go over great. Because i have to make it a day in advance i have chosen to just use cool whip topping. One carton will cover the cake. I let the jello set up too long in the fridge the first time but I can easily fix that from now on. don't let the Jello get solid bc then it won't spread and seap down the holes. It is so light and fluffy and delicous served cold. i expect to be making this one several times this summer. :

this cake is easy and delicious. you should double the whipped topping though, or even triple it. as far as anyone who says it isnt all that, theyre crazy. easy and delicious, im actually making it right now for my gf so itll be ready for her when she comes home from her sister's house. this is the second time ive made it. and i have a six pack of beer in me right now so that should tell you how easy it is. for the amount of actual effort you have to put into making it, this cake is well above average

tastes like a cake you buy from the bakery in the grocery store, but a little worse. Waste of time, I threw it out.

This was a very easy & good recipe. I agree with Pat, next time I think I will make a lemon cake & use lemon jello. Then everytime I make it after that I will use another flavor of jello. This is very simple, easy & delicious!

I really liked making this! It wasn't really complicated. I actually cut my cake in half after poking int and made it a double layer (I was only feeding 4 people. I had enough of the whipped topping. It was nice to do and I could do some work while everything was setting up and cooking. My parents were amazed and the hubby loved it! I will be making this again!

Somebody who thinks that a recipe which calls for a prepared strawberry cake and strawberry jello is supposed to magically turn into and taste like something else really is "clueless in the kitchen!" The recipe was never presented as being anything else. I thought it was a fun, easy recipe. I, myself, and everyone else enjoyed it very much!

Very Very Good..didn't make enough of the whip topping so i just double the recipe..the homemade whip topping so much better than store bought on this cake
