I use the giadiniera for all other sorts of things also, and everyone loves the dish I add it to. It adds so much flavor. I didn't think I would like this because of the "raw" veggies. But, Jeff converted me. I added this to scrambled eggs, for a flavorful omlette for my husband. He loved it. I have Jeff's show taping so I won't miss anything!!!

Way to go Jeff! I live in South Florida and my poor Italian Mother from Chicago loved the idea of me attempting to make a Chicago beef. She said your Grandfather tried and couldn't do it, but then I thought she was going to cry when she had the sangwich. It came out awesome. Now just to get my own deli slicer for the house.

Absolutely fantastic, and so easy to reproduce with left over brisket and Jus kept specifically to make this sandwich later in the week.

Can't wait to try this. We love italian beef in our italian family. We pulled for you from day one, Jeff. Not because you're from the Chicago area like us, Joliet, but because we loved your personality and loved the idea of finding new ways to cook sandwiches. I thought my favorite food for a long time was Mexican. I was interested in Suzy, but sandwiches sounded more interesting, so you got my vote.

Very very tasty and I don't think I would consider this to be a "difficult" recipe as it is classified. I didn't have a chuck roast on hand but instead London Broil. I used my Rachel Ray dutch oven and cooked it exactly as the directions state. I only added one ingredient -- dijon mustard. It gives the beef an interesting twist and deeper flavor. All in all my family loved this recipe and devoured everything I made! The show was fun to watch as well and will work good for our family who is on the go and needs some more choices to the "quick" dinners.

Just wondering why the Giardiniera recipe is not the one presented on Jeff's first show, which is the one I was interested in? He used 2 cups water, 1/4 cup salt, and didn't simmer...

Yes! This was just what I was looking for -- great-tasting new sandwich ideas, especially ones that can be made from leftovers. Even if I can't find all the ingredients/suggestions at my grocery, substitutions are pretty darn good. Thanks, Jeff!
