....... oh and Jeff - CONGRATS !! I watched your first show - it was as if you'd been doing this for years ! What a natural, and funny as hell. (Is hell funny? oh whateva lol. I really liked adding in a "road trip" to the place which inspired the dish - always interesting for some background info, it adds greatly to the show. I have my DVR set, I'm all ready - welcome and keep up the great work/comedy Jeff !

I made the sandwich and it was really good, especially the giardinena. This is a food review website, if you want to complain about the show go on the Food Network discussion board on Facebook.

I didn't see the show but thought the recipe sounds great. I don't have a slicer so I didn't understand how to slice so thin. Also I went to the butcher and it seems there is a difference between a rump roast and a top round roast. Can someone offer some direction.

Glad you won! Like the idea of this meal-traditional roast dinner with the great sandwich idea rest of the week. One thing though-tell us what oil you use...you referred to oil several times but didn't specify. Great job!

Jeff, I thought the show was great. I like the humor and the visit to the Beef House. I will definitely try the Italian Beef Sandwich and the Homemade Giardiniera.

I also loved the Mortadella sandwich. I will try making that fig spread.

Food network made the right choice in you.

WOW! We're only supposed to put in positive comments or not comment? Some democracy! And here I thought you were at least supposed to have made and EATEN the food before reviewing. I understand the comment about the time - I was excited to see the show and Jeff. This is not at all what I expected. Very dry and time consuming. However, he did say it could be used for more than 1 or 2 meals. Perhaps THAT will be the direction this will take - how to make sandwiches from large volume meals. Surprised also his recipes exist in 2 places and are different. The giardiniera recipe here is not at all what he did on the show. It does show the footnote about it being from another show. Surprised he did not include any vinegar on his.

Will continue to watch and hope for the best. In the meantime, be nice to one another would ya?

Watched the show yesterday-soon as it was over I ran to the store to get the ingedients to make the Giardiniera & beef sandwiches. Someone made a comment on here how they didn't think the show was good b/c it took 5 hours to make a sandwich and not a meal. If they were paying attetnion they would have heard Jeff say to use the roast as a potroast and then use the leftovers as a sandwich & vice versa.. those are exactly my plans. So excited about the sandwiches that we will have to have those first, then throw in some potatoes for tomorrow's meal. This will be a great first day of school meal for the kids to come home to. Thanks Jeff. For those busy mom's, put it together the same way & throw in the crockpot for when you get home : Love to all the food network stars! I watch you religiously (sometimes w my kids - 11 yr old twins; boy & girl who both love to cook & my neighbor does as well. We are always trying new things & running across the stree to one another with an extra plate :
