Looks great. I have always loved beef aux jus, making it at home is tricky for me Rural places do not have great local butchers. I think however that I can use one of the roasts I have in my freezer. Its just going to take time.I really enjoyed watched Jeff's show even though it aired early Sunday morning in Pacific time a bit too early for me. But I will watch again.

Great first show. Listening and watching Jeff cook and perform is a pleasure. I really liked his no-nonense kitchen. It's definitely right out of a sandwich shop. And that brings me to the next point. All these years, I thought those who said "samwich or sammich" were guilty of abusing the King's English (ie The Earl of Sandwich. Come to find out that a samwich is slang for sandwich, used in the case of an extremely good sandwich. Jeff you're on your way.

Now I have to actually make the samwich.

This is a great recipe with a lot of flavor... I didn't theink the recipe was complicated at all. I used the crock pot instead of the oven, we shredded the beef, toasted the bread and dipped our sandwiches in the sauce. I didn't make the giardiniera or the chips. I will make this again.

So delighted that Jeff won! The sandwich on the show today looks wonderful, and the side trips to Johnnie's Beef in Elmwood Park were a great touch! To those of you worried about time & ingredients, just make the beef the day before you plan on serving it. The flavor will probably be even better after it sits for a day. I'll make this next Sunday, serve it on Monday. Whatever we don't finish in sandwiches on Monday nite, can be converted to tacos or something else the following nite. Bravo, Jeff, from a viewer born & bred in Berwyn, IL!

I was really glad Jeff got his own show. Great personality. I love the simplicity of this recipe and he demonstrated it so well. I went straight to the kitchen and started cooking. The roast in the au jus is in the oven now and smells delightful. I am also thrilled with the format of the show. He did several quick recipes for making flavorful, economical meals/sandwiches. Thanks Jeff for a winner and thanks Food Network!

Ocfotoman, Jeff was making several panini, so it could be that his grammer was correct. And, in America, we are used to referring to the sandwich as a panini.

good luck to you Jeff.... I was rooting for you all along. Haven't tried your first recipes yet but I did record your first show. A great way to start with a Chicago sandwich with a twist.

I loved Jeff's debut! I made sure I recorded it in case I missed it. The Italian beef sandwich looks so delicious! I can't wait to make it! I'm very excited to make the homemade giardiniera, too! Jeff is only going to get better with time! Congratulations, Jeff!!!
