I am a one pot or one dish kinda guy and liked the recipe because it was simple, quick and easy. And the first time that I prepared it was at the 32nd Eastern Primitive Rendezvous this October on a wood fire. My first attempt resulted in a burned and blackened mass of unrecognisable matter which could have been used in an emergency to induce vomiting in a poisoning emergency. But upon the urging of my better half I again attempted the miracle of wood fire cooking and this time, with more dilligence at watching the oven and not the clock,I succeded in preparing a dish that more closely resembled that which Alton had conjured up. This was all in anticipation of entering a Camp oven cookoff at the Rendezvous. This was done with no time to spare but with great results, placing third in the competition. There was nothing left to sample, as the judges and complete strangers saw fit to devour the entire Clafouti, leaving me to prepare another for just my wife and myself. P.S. Rendezvous cooking is better than Civil War cooking

This tasted like weird eggy French toast. It's not awful, but I won't make it again.

We LOVE every recipe we've tried from Alton. This one is not good. It's too much like eggs for breakfast and needs salt and more sugar.
    Very disappointing.

Very easy to make and tastes great. We have had it for breakfast and as a dessert after dinner. A few times I have added nutmeg and it tastes great.

...I have made many AB recipes and have been very, very please and this one is no exception. I haVE made it 3 times now and still haven't quite got the flour down. I think it would benefit from weight over volume measurement - as AB seems to prefer himself. Taste is excellent and is as easy as can be. When measuring flour err on the side of too much.

This makes a terrific light dessert where the fruit plays the staring role. I made it with blueberries, since the cherries at the store did not look the greatest, and it came out great. I'll definitely make this for my guests, even if name is a bit odd.

This was so easy to make and I love that it allows me to use my iron dutch oven for something besides braises. The clafouti was light and fluffy and the cherry were bursting and full of juices. It was the perfect summer morning meal. I think I'll make this the next time we have people over for brunch. Thanks AB for another great dish.

The word my daughter used upon first tasting this treat was "WOW". I found her to be correct. I varied the recipe slightly based on diet restrictions. My daughter has Celiac Disease so I substituted a Gluten free baking mix for the flour and I used canned peaches rather than cherries, just because they are her fruit of choice. She has been craving peach pie and upon watching Alton Brown make this dish, I thought it may provide just the alternative to pie that I needed. I found this to be very easy to make and the taste is out of this world. This will be made again and again.
