I had some extra Gala apples around and I decided to give this a try. I cut the white sugar to 1/2 cup, added 1/4 cup of light brown sugar and added about 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon. Other than that, I followed the recipe as directed. Total winner! Family loved it! I think next time if I use Gala apples I'll cut the white sugar back even more, as those apples are very sweet to begin with.

This recipe was so quick and easy and one of the better homeade apple pies I've ever had. I used Braeburn apples. I also added 3/4 tsp cinnamon and did the 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar. I also added 3 tsp cornstarch to thicken the filling. Delicious!

To help with the watery filling I added a little bit of cornstarch to help absorb it. I also used 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar and added 3/4 tsp of cinnamon... it was perfect!

As the last reviewer said, the filling was a bit watery, but only the first time I cut into it. Other than that this recipe is excellent! I'm very much a beginner at cooking, and this was my first attempt to make a pie. It was the easiest possible recipe, yet everyone who tried it said it tasted amazing. I thought it had a little too much sugar, so I might use less next time, and I'll probably try adding cinnamon.

the filling is always a bit watery. Other than that, this recipe can't be beat for its simplicity.
