These muffins are so good and fluffy. I didn't have buttermilk so I substituted non-fat greek yogurt and it turned out great! I noticed that the muffins were sweeter the next day. Even my 1 year old daughter loves them.

I can only agree with all the accolades these muffins have received. I particularly liked the moist texture. Thanks to suggestions of prior reviewers, I added a half an apple and a half teaspoon of cinnamon to the batter, as well as a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg. Will probably up the spices even a bit further next time. I tried both the pecan topping and the one with oatmeal and like both. I hope they freeze well, because I put 9 of them in the freezer. Eating only one a day will be challenging!

Made these for a play group and sent some in with my husband for his work. (I made a double batch.

    To quote my husband's email:

"The muffins are to die for. Seriously, perhaps the best muffins
you have yet created. I'm not joking. They are really, really good."

    Even the General liked them!!

I added cinnamon to the batter. Because I live on a military base overseas, we can't buy buttermilk, so I had to use powdered buttermilk that you reconstitute with water. That was a little tricky, but I didn't end up using all the water that the powder called for. The batter would have been way too soupy. I also didn't do the pecans on top, instead using oatmeal as another reviewer suggested. Very happy to have discovered this recipe!!

This recipe is really great for an all-around good muffin. The recipe is well written/created and they taste great. I used 1.5 granny smith apples (diced and added 1/2 tsp cinnamon to the flour mixture, but otherwise followed the recipe as is. It definitely isn't overly sweet but the topping satisfies your sweet tooth on each bite.

I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out great! I used paper liners to make them easier to remove. I used whole wheat flour (not pastry flour. There was so much batter, so I filled the muffins tins to the top. They don't taste like a "healthy" muffin at all!

Just a really good muffin, not too dense, nice and moist, lots of flavor. I omitted the pecans and used regular whole wheat flour. I had a significant amount of extra batter, so I filled the muffin tin up higher than 2/3 each and made 2 more muffins in an extra tin. I agree with the reviewers below, no muffin liner needed. I'm looking forward to enjoying these all week long!

These muffins are filling and delicious. The applesauce and buttermilk make them very moist

These muffins were FANTASTIC! I followed the recipe almost exactly - these were my changes: 1 used regular whole wheat flour instead of whole wheat pastry flour, 2 used oats instead of pecans (not a fan of nuts, 3 used 1.5 RED delicious apples instead of golden delicious apples. The muffins came out PERFECTLY moist and I was able to get 19 good sized muffins out of the recipe. I would DEFINITELY make these again!!!!

This is the first time I've tried to bake (anything, ever, and these turned out magnificent! Due to the chunky nature of new-bought packed brown sugar (I used light brown sugar, I would recommend sprinkling the brown sugar separately from the pecan/cinnamon mixture on top of the muffins. Or at least make sure the brown sugar's un-chunkified before adding it to the mixture. I'm definitely looking forward to making these again!
