My family and I loved this recipe. I added a little bit of toasted wheat germ to the topping and it was great!

Can you use regular whole wheat flour instead of the whole wheat pastry? Any good substitutions? I didn't want to buy a whole bag just for this recipe that sounds soooo good!

I baked these muffins this morning altering them just a tiny bit by adding cinnamon to the batter (which I do with just about any muffin recipe and only adding 1/2 of the chopped apple and adding 1 cup of frozen wild blueberries. Wow! they turned out very tasty and is a much healthier muffin recipe than most. Excellent.

So easy and so delicious! I have tried so many "healthy" muffin recipes and the texture and flavor are always lacking. I think these are better than any fattening muffin I have ever made and the topping is such a nice touch! My sister thought I got them from a fancy bakery. The only downfall is I don't want to keep eating them. Love everything about Ellie--her easy-going style, her healthy, delicious recipes and the added bonus of nutritional info listed with them. Saturday is not enough!

My husband and I LOVED these. We both ate two not long after they came out of the oven: They apple chunks are a nice touch, and they are very moist. The topping adds the perfect touch.

These muffins are delicious. They are moist and taste great. The recipe was easy to follow and I'm glad she includes the nutritional information. My three year old loves them! Thanks Ellie!

What a surprise! These muffins were delicious. I am always trying to find healthy sweet snacks for my children and I found a keeper with these muffins. I have loved all of the recipes I have tried from Healthy Appetite. This is one of the best and most informative shows on Food Network. Please continue to air this show and don't be afraid to throw in a couple of extra episodes a week.
