i enjoyed this taco salad my bf didnt so much he said it was too healthy for him. i even used regular chips instead of baked ones. i think my lettuce was a little bit bitter that might of been throwing off the taste. might try to make it in the summer when all the vegetables are in season!

If you are looking for lower calorie options, this is probably a good recipe to try. But, anyone with cooking experience could come up with this combination him/herself; there is nothing special about this food. And unless you are on a low salt diet, the beef needs to be salted.

Excellent! Very satisfying put a dollop of low-fat Greek yogurt on it and it's even better! 11 WW points plus and worth it!

This has an amazingly high satisfaction to calorie ratio. I can't imagine the last time I felt this full after a 400 calorie dinner! It's also really good and easy to make. I only gave this four stars because I thought it was quite good, but not as excellent as some of Ellie's other recipes. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out very well, but I could imagine that adding corn or other veggies would make it even tastier.

I echo what most other reviewers have written. This is a light and fresh-tasting salad. I added only about half the chili powder. I like things spicy, but too much of that particular spice overpowers any other flavor at a certain point. The tomato dressing really made the difference. I added cilantro for an additional fresh ingredient. I didn't miss traditional salsa or sour cream at all. I decided to make my own corn tortilla strips by tossing them with a little olive oil, pinch of kosher salt and chili powder and baked them at 425 degrees for about 10 minutes -- great way to control sodium and portion control, plus added a bit more interest when placed around the border of the bowl.

Loved this easy recipe. We have sooo many tomatoes from our garden and this was a great way to use them and not have to add the calories of another dressing. I added corn to the tomato dressing and avocado, red onion and spinach to the lettuce. Will definitely make again. Thanks Ellie

We had this for dinner last night and I almost felt like I was cheating on my diet. I couldn't believe how much I could eat for only 400 some calories. I did add a couple tablespoons of the greek yogurt for that creaminess, but that doesn't add many calories. I used 90% lean ground beef, but ground turkey would also work well. I love that Ellie doesn't try to cut out things like cheese and replacing it with highly processed no fat stuff, but just emphasizes using the appropriate amounts of the good stuff.

We really enjoyed this taco salad. The tomato dressing was a nice surprise, so simple and tasty -- I will use it for side salads as well!

I recently had heart surgery and have had to change my diet even more than I already had changed it. I made this with ground turkey, omitted the salt, and used low sodium black beans. My mother and I both loved this meal, it was easy and didn't take much to fill us up. The only other thing I changed was the cayenne pepper to cumin cause I am a whimp when it comes to spicy foods. Thank you for providing a recipe that was low fat, low cholesterol, and low sodium.
