Ingredients

  • 3 whole-wheat pita breads, cut into eighths
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ancho chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch cayenne pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine olive oil and all spices in a large bowl. Add pita wedges and toss to coat, Spread in 1 layer on a baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, tossing once, until pita is brown and crisp. Cool completely before serving.

    Great snack when you're trying to be healthy! Making your own pita chips will impress your friends and it's also a lot easier on your wallet!!

    I would not make these for a crowd, b/c its not a "show stopper" recipe, but it is great for me because they are tasty, quick, and a perfect healthy snack. I found it to be more effective to brush on the seasoned oil versus tossing it. I will make this again, but with a bit more salt. I served mine with red pepper hummus. It was a good snack. :-

    These are the best pita chips I have ever made, they are perfect with hummous and also great with salsa! Made them for a pot luck and everyone loved them! Excellent like always Ellie!
