This was good. I found that it needed more sugar, otherwise it just tasted like cucumbers.

Well I wish I had something positive to say about this recipe...unfortunately, I didn't care for it : ( I think a part of it had to do with the fact that i don't like onions and attempted to make it with onions anyways...big mistake. Despite that, I found that the recipe called for too much dill and not enough liquid, u could barely taste any sweetness or vinegar, just the dill. I was hoping for more flavor, but just too bland for me.

I rinsed it well and I found it to be salty. I use salt very sparingly, so this was just too much. I think I'll make it again, but I don't know that I will need to use so much salt because it just doesn't rinse off easily. I think next time I will also add some capers.

An excellent summertime side dish and a great way to use up your cucumbers from the garden! Very refreshing.

Too salty, and I rinsed, 3 times. I used one eng cuc, halved the salt, and after 30 minutes, drained the liquid and pressed. Rinsed, pressed out liquid and let drain, three times. I tripled the dressing and left out the dill. I let it marinade overnight. It tasted like salted cucumbers, very little "sweet vinegar" taste. I didn't throw it away like others. I rinsed it again and pressed out the liquid (my poor smooshed cucumbers!. I made a stronger marinade with 1 c vinegar, 3/4 c sugar, which I brought to a boil then poured over the cucumbers and onions, completely covering them. I put in the freezer to quick cool. I poured off the excess liquid and set it aside. They now tasted much better. I tossed the cucumbers and onions with some pasta and added some tomatoes and tuna, using the reserved liquid as a dressing. Since it was just for me, I didn’t mind having to fix it. Will not use it again, I’ll just stick with my fix recipe.

This is delicious--just remember to rinse your cucumbers after salting like ellie says in the recipe! Also i dice my red onion finely and don't use as much. Sometimes I add a little lite mayo or sour cream.

It is very important to extract as much moisture as possible from the cucumbers. Therefore, a spread them flat onto a mesh tray over a sheet pan and salted them. Afterwards, I pressed them in order to extract any remaining moisture. The vinegar and sugar will re-hydrate the cucumbers somewhat, making the salad a quick, cool, and tasty accompaniment to nearly any type of entree.
