This was absolutely fantastic! My MIL who doesn't like chocolate much loved it. My 22 month old had some in the pudding dish and she couldn't stop saying mmm, mmm, mmmm! lol There was plenty for 8 slices plus some extra to put small amount into 2 pudding dishes for my daughter.

I didn't use vanilla extract (forgot. My chocolate was 74%. Instead of gelatine, I used arrowroot (vegan/vegetarian alternative. When Ellie tells you to remove the liquid from the heat, I mixed in the arrowroot and returned it to the heat till it thickened. If you haven't used arrowroot before, it is very similar to cornflour/cornstarch. Most likely I used 2 heaped tbsp arrowroot with 2 tbsp of water. My pie didn't taste chalky, though I shifted my cocoa, cornflour and sugar.

I will definitely make it again! Though I think next time I may have to use digestive biscuits as I live in the UK and graham cracker is only brought back from US trips.

This was really one of the best chocolate cream pies I've ever had. I did change 2 things which will change the nutritional content. I doubled the graham cracker crumb as I find with that little amount the crust would be too thin. I also used a full bar of Ghiradelli chocolate. I was concerned about the "texture" as I read other reviews that it was not like traditional cream pie. Not sure why they wrote that because it was every bit traditional and delicious. Also, I didn't use the entire amount of gelatin, maybe head 1-2 tbsp left over. Not sure if that really would have made a difference. I will make this over and over with fresh whipped cream to top. Great Job Ellie!

I loved this pie! It sets up beautifully, isn't too sweet, has the deep rich decadent chocolate flavor i was craving, I tweeked the flavor by using almond extract instead of the vanilla, I used to love chocolate covered cherries, but they always made my teeth hurt, so here's the flavors without the pain! I also used 2% milk, it's what i had on hand, so....it's still fairly low fat, compared to the chocolate pies my mother made. A small dollop of slightly sweetened whipped cream on top, the crowning glory! A+ ! Ellie!

I made two of pies, as I was having our oldest daughter and her family for sunday dinner!
They all loved it! Very easy to do! The great grandchildren after our walk wanted another slice! We had about 4 slices left after everyone left.
You can get 8 pretty good slices out of a pie!
If you have not tried this, you should give it a try! We loved it!
