I made this pie in a pre-made pie crust but follwed the pudding recipe exactly. The flavor is decadent and delicious and chocolately. The texture didn't come out creamy and pudding-like though, it was a little firmer and jiggly, which I guess makes sense given the gelatin in it. I was fine with it but I know some others who tried the pie couldn't get past the texture-- might try this with less gelatin next time.

My family loved this! It is definitely rich....I piece is a perfect portion. My pie set well and was creamy. I did whisk my ingredients together and used Ghiradelli chocolate. I will be making this again soon!

I didn't have any problems with this recipe. It was very easy to make! It was the first pie that I have ever baked and I couldn't have been more pleased with the results! I love chocolate pudding and I absolutely LOVED this pudding pie! It was so easy to make and tasted so good that this recipe is definitely going to be repeated anytime that I am looking to give myself a special chocolate treat!

This couldnt be the simplest and more delicious pie ever. Not only is it easy, but its things that everyone pretty much has in there pantry. I have made a couple of them for my friends and myself and it was a hit. Thank you so very much for this recipe, it will be in my recipe book for time to come. Oh and whoever can say this is YUK, they didnt follow the recipe. thanks

My pie came out exactly as Ellie's. I have no idea what the other reviewers did wrong and they claimed that they folllowed the directions to a Tee. I don't think they did or else they would have ended up with a delicious pie. It was firm, chocolatey and not chalky at all! They should give it another try because it is worth it. You don't feel like it low-cal. I'm actually eating a slice right now and already thinking of making it again for the holidays. I don't think they stirred it enough when they added the corn starch.

First I have to say that the filling for this pie is AMAZING flavorwise... almost a little too rich, quite frankly, but that certainly makes it easier to be satisfied with a single portion : I had no problems with consistency (none of the chalkiness others have written about or the pie setting... in fact I think it set a little too well. A slice of that pie doesn't move! which kind of creeped me out, but my gelatin had started to set a bit before I added it, so I might try it again and wait to add the water to the gelatin. Also, the crust was pretty thin and didn't really hold up to the filling. In the future, I would probably just buy a pre-made low fat graham cracker crust and make the filling myself.

I made this pie for my family as 1 of our Thanksgiving desserts last year, and it was phenomenal! It was not chalky or bitter, but creamy and full of dark chocolatey goodness. If you take you time, are patient, and mix the ingredients well, then it will not be chalky. Do not skimp on the HOMEMADE whipped cream! You will NEVER go back to storebought again. Serve with sliced bananas for a special treat, and your family will be thanking you for quite some time.

I followed the directions to the tee...was very disappointed in this dessert. Even my chocoholic husband could not get past the chalky flavor or weird consistency.

This pie did not set at all. I added the exact amount of starch and cooked it for a few minutes until it got thick. I also I added the exact amount of gelatin. I'm not impressed with the taste either. I'm not going make it again.
