I was looking for a less fattening version of the typical decadent brownie and these are actually very good, considering that they have a fraction of the fattening ingredients of most brownies. This recipe is easy to follow but it does produce a cake-like brownie, not the chewy or gooey type that are nutritionally sinful. They will satisfy a chocolate craving without wrecking your health and waistline in one sitting. I even threw a few chocolate chips into the batter to triple the chocolate treat.

As a seasoned cook, I have tried many brownie recipes over the years and this one is by far the absolute worst! My husband said the flavor was like cardboard. I thought the flavor was just nothing. Consistency was good, they were pretty-looking, but the taste was just terrible. Will I use this recipe again? Definitely not.

These brownies are such a wonderful light treat. At first, I really did not like them at all -- I thought they were too cakey b/c I am used to eating gooey, calorie-laden brownies. But these really grew on me and now I have made them 3 or 4 times. In fact, another batch is in the oven right now! Since I love chocolate and I love sweets, but I don't want to pack on too many calories (it's amazing how fast the weight creeps back up on you isn't it?-- and I'm a very athletic, thin person! these brownies really satisy my cravings. I can feel comfortable eating them, knowing that they are low in calories and I can indulge without feeling guilty and still get into my size 4 jeans! Thanks Ellie for such a superb recipe! I love your cookbook also -- it's fantastic!!

I have to say that Ellie's recipes aren't even that healthy. There are so many substitutions you can make to make this recipe healthy without cutting the flavor. Use fat-free yogurt instead of reduced fat. Use egg whites instead of whole eggs. And to cut the fat by some of the oil. Use half by using one tablespoon of oil then using 2 tablespoons of applesauce, which makes up 1/4 cup.

This recipe is horrible! I had great expectations because of the four stars, but it turned out flavourless and dull!!!! I would not recommend at all. Afer this disappointment I went to Jamie Oilver's website and cooked his 'bloomin' brillant brownies' and brillant it was!!!

These were such a big hit with my boyfriend, and then I made them for my parents. My Dad's favorite thing in the world is brownies, and I could hardly cut them before he conqured about 4 pieces!!! I served them warm with a little light vanilla ice cream on top and it was completely heaven! thanks Ellie Krieger for making brownies a healthy dessert!!! :-

I made these for a party over the weekend and everyone loved them. My roommate said she's addicted. I made a few changes that made them more gooey, less cakey, and amped with flavor: 1/2 c. each whole wheat and all purpose flour, 2 large eggs, 6 oz. yogurt, 1/2 c. applesauce, 1 tbsp canola oil, 1/2 c. chocolate chips mixed in at the end. You have to cook these longer - like 35 minutes. But check them after 30 minutes.

The kicker that I did was I made a second batch and used coffee flavored yogurt. AMAZING!!!
