I really liked these. I read the reviews before I made them and I added one half tsp. of salt and one tsp. vanilla. I also had a bag of dried cherries, strawberries and blueberries and used those instead of the raisins, dates and apricots. They were very chewy and sweet.

I think the next time I made this recipe I will add more of one flavor, like 1 cup of apricots and eliminate one of the other ingredients. This is extemely health and I love the concept.

I've made these bars several times and they are always a hit, especially when I use suggestions from other reviewers. I like this version: sub whole flax seed for the wheat germ, double the amount of cinnamon, add 1 tsp. vanilla and one mashed banana. I am so happy to have this recipe! It is fun to make and will never get boring using the variations and substitutions. It?s very versatile.

I've passed this recipe on to everyone in my family and to my "healthy lifestyele women's group." It's fantastic. I added 1/2 cup chopped pecans (any kind would work well though, and sprinkled some on top before baking. I also added dried cranberries. Hint: Make a double batch (use a cooky sheet with sides. Might as well pull out the old food processor once and bake twice, so to speak! My husband and I missed lunch one day while on vacation and sat on the dunes in Provincetown, MA eating these instead. Delicious!

I used raisins, craisins and dates for the fruit and substituted dried vegetable protein for the powdered milk. I also put in a drop of almond and a drop of vanilla extract...tasty! They are excellent warm from the oven-taste like oatmeal cookies to me.

Thanks for the simple recipe for these bars, it so easy to adjust for different flavors. I do add a mashed banana for a little more moisture. No need to buy the store bought kind anymore, these are so fresh tasting.
If the don't taste good, you should try getting better quality ingredients.

They are very good. And its easy to add different fruit to change it up.
