This was amazing. I decided to prepare the recipe last minute for a cocktail party - first mistake - and ran to the Commissary on base - second mistake. They were actually OUT of Ricotta and I substituted it with Marscapone. I also used fresh figs instead of dried. People were very impressed which, is one of the goals right?

Great combination, but I couldn't get the right amount of honey topping, so I ended up mixining it into the ricotta to get an even amount in each. I also added a little salt to cut the sweetness and bring out the flavor of the cheese. Finally I mixed in more nuts with the cheese. So yummy and pretty!

Delicious and exotic tasting. Very elegant results for minimal work. Try to find larger figs, since the black mission figs I used made for absurdly small servings.

What a great, simple snack! It combines so many great flavors and textures - sweet, salty, crunchy, smooth. I will definitely be making this again. The only problem was I couldn't find unshelled pistachios so I had to unshell a bunch myself and that took a little time, but it was totally worth it - it gave the nuts a great flavor! I toasted about 1/2 a cup so that I could have some ready for the next time I want this tasty snack. Will definitely make this again.

What could be simpler? Four incredients and no cooking (except for two minutes of toasting th nuts in a pan.
Made these for two parties and they were a hit both times!
Will make them for Christmas Eve, as well.

I've made this both with figs and dates. I don't know if the figs found in the Southwest are smaller than the ones available back East, but they seemed too small and were awkward to handle. Nevertheless worth it! I recently tried the recipe with dates instead, and oh my, they were perfection. My husband doesn't care much for dates, but when I prepared them per this recipe he absolutely loves them! Thank you Ellie! Food Network, please stop moving around the times of her show! More Ellie, Sara Moulton, Giada, Contessa... and less reality garbage!
