I tried a similar recipe which called for sprinkling on chopped fresh thyme (I used dried and they turned out great. Can't get much simpler than this. Once steamed, you can lay the potatoes on a sheet pan or cutting board and use the bottom of another sheet pan to flatten them all at once. I've found these are better when you use the smallest new potatoes you can find and it isn't so easy these days to find really small ones. I sprinkled Parmesan on them as well.

So simple -- yet so good and healthy! I had forgotten that steaming potatoes is one of the best ways to cook them. My nana used to steam her potatoes all the time -- thanks for bringing this one back Ellie! As always -- Ellie totally rocks -- I can eat the food I want and be healthy and slim too!

These were great!! Crispy on the outside, soft and yummy on the inside! Our kids enjoyed something different. I added salt pepper and garlic powder before putting them in the oven. I will definately make these again! Thanks Ellie!

My Yukon Gold potatoes were a little bigger so I had to steam them an extra 10 minutes & I left them in the oven an extra 5 minutes. I forgot to salt them - both before & after baking - but it wasn't missed at all since I used garlic infused olive oil. Even my fiance (whose favorite forms of potato are french fries & boxed mashed potato mix loved them. They were so buttery & delicious!! This is our new go-to potato recipe.

I used yukon gold potatoes and followed the recipe exactly. They did not smash into single serving pieces. I had to break them apart so they looked like chunks on the sheet pan. I brushed on the olive oil and roasted. They were very rich tasitng. No one missed all the butter and sour cream we usually put on potatoes. You really tasted the creamy texture of the potato. My father in law is on a fat restricted diet and he was thrilled this was something he could eat. Thanks.

This looked interesting and fun. I steamed them in the microwave to save time. I was a little disappointed with the lack of taste. They were a little dry too. Not bad to make hash browns with the next day though. Not sure how to improve them to add moisture.

I was lucky to come accross this show today and I decided to make the potatoes with my chicken meal. WOW!!!! they were such a hit with y family, the only thing I did different was add a little garlic powder to them. I always ask at the end of the meal when I try something new.... Can I make this again and YES all the way around. Thanks!!

These potatoes turned out nice and crispy and quite flavorful in spite of the simplicity of the oil and a little salt. This is a nice change of pace from usual potato dishes which are usually laden with fat and calories.

when i saw these made on TV i had to try it immediately. i thought they were a nice spin on a normal baked potatoe, but i had a very hard time "smashing" them. it seemed so seemless in the tv show but my potatoes - despite cooking them for the time specified - were not easy to smash by any means. i lost one to the floor. otherwise, pretty good = definitely add pepper.
