I used the ham but next time will try a turkey or chicken sausage so that I still get the sausage flavor in this dish. That was a bit lacking but overall a nice healthy dish. Has anyone tried it with brown rice? I wonder if that would work...

I made this last night, and like other comments I noticed, it took longer for the rice to absorb the liquid than the recipe says. I would recommend using thick slices of ham too. I just used low-sodium lunch meat and the pieces shriveled up. It is nice and spicy too; we didn't need the hot sauce. It was great though - I will definitely make it again. It's surprising how much flavor there is for so little fat.

Made this tonight for dinner and it was very good! Took a little longer than what the recipe says (about 40 minutes for the rice to cook through. I will definately be making this again...perfect amount of spicyness! Didn't need the hot sauce.

This came out really good, my whole family liked it but the kids thought it was a little spicy, so if you dont like spice i would leave out the cayenne pepper.
I used Publix, sweet deli ham.

It was easy to make and I will make it again

Ok so this recipe had great flavor - Now we don't eat pork or shellfish, so I used a beef sausage - The base of this recipe is great though, you could you ground beef, diced chicken. Pretty much anything would go good in it. The reason I give it four stars, and maybe I'm just a wuss, but it was really hot with 1/4 tsp of cayenne. I will make this again, but I will most definitely cut the cayenne in half. Thanks Ellie!

Just like it's title, this is easy to make and it tastes really good with a kick of hot sauce. I will make this again and change the ingridents depend on what's in season.

This was a great recipe. Tasted fantastic and was quick to make. I not real keen on spicy things - so I omitted the hot sauce - for me - it still had a great kick! When I have left over ham - this will be my go to recipe.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a winner. I make Jambalaya all the time (the not so healthy versions of course and I must say this version is so tasty you can't even tell it's good for you. Not only is it super tasty, it's so easy to make. I love it. I halved the recipe and I had enough for dinner for me and my husband and some leftover for my lunch the next day. It's awesome. I love Ellie's recipes; she makes it so easy to eat better.
