I typically don't like maple flavored things, probably because they're fake. I made an entire bag and didn't measure anything just put a little syrup in the pan, then after they were done sprinkled them with salt. They turned out perfect, I can't keep my hands off them!

You really want to blow away your guests? Make these walnuts up ahead of time. Make a salad of baby greens from the bag. Add the walnuts, and raspberrys or strawberries. What ever is in season. for the salad dressing I buy Marzetti all natural light raspberry cabernet vinaigrette. If I have any left over salad, I add chicken, and what a perfect light meal on a warm day.

I love Ellie's approach. I have all three of her books and I DVR and save her shows. I sure wish they would make her show a priority because health conscious and delicious recipes are definitely something people want to see!

These walnuts are so good. I actually did half walnuts and half pecans (they were even roasted/salted because I didn't want to use up all of the walnuts I have. So very tasty. The only downside is that it is difficult to only eat 1 ounce and eating more than that is a big calorie load! I probably ate 2 ounces today and the rest are stored in my fridge. Thank you Ellie!

Made these for the first time today because they sounded like the perfect mid day snack to take to work. I can see it will be hard to limit myself to 1/3 cup! I added chipotle chili powder - actually stirred it in the syrup and it added the perfect smoky kick. I also did as several suggested and sprinkled with kosher salt while warm after I'd spread them on parchment paper to cool. Thanks Ellie this is so deliicious and quick! I am going to make another batch later this week to take to my brother's suprise 50th birthday party and I know they will be a hit!

If your thinking of making these treats, please do so. They will hit that sweet tooth with no problem. I added the cinnamon as suggested and will in the future only us 1/4 cup of maple because it would be more than enough. I was a little worried about the purchase of maple because I don't use it but I can see using this recipe a lot and on different nuts and granola mix. I have 75lbs to loss and this will help. I have this thing for something sweet after a meal and one or two walnuts will hit the spot. I made 8 little bag servings not 6 to decrease the calories. One a day plus one to share : !!!!!!!!

...to put these down! My 8-yr-old son loves, loves, loves it! Tried it for the first time last night...Had to put them away cuz they are like candy...great brain food! Definitely portion them out or you'll finish it all up quick: Tried with a pinch of cayenne pepper for that "Hmmm?" factor...What r u doing reading these reviews...Make it already!

I have been using pecans for this recipe instead of walnuts, and I have tried several variations. First I made them with maple syrup, then agave nectar and finally with honey, and to each batch I also added about 1 tsp. of chipotle chili powder which gave the nuts a nice spicy, smokey flavor. You can use less of the chili if you don't want them too spicy, but I'm from NM and we do chili here. The maple syrup crystalized the best while the agave nectar and the honey made more of a glaze; and the maple syrup and honey both added their own sort of unique flavor while the agave was milder and just added sweetness. We have been using on salads or just snaking on these for a couple of weeks now. I love them!

Super easy to do and they turn out fantastic...I've wanted to make these for salads but can see that they could become quite addictive as a snack!

Made this with half walnuts and half almonds since they are both good for you and followed some of the sugestions: added a pinch of chiplote chili powder, since we live in Texas and it is a staple in my spice cabinet. Also added kosher sea salt just as they came of the stove and spread them to dry on parchment paper. These are fantastic and will be a forever be addition to my Christmas baskets every year. Had to make four batches to make sure that I actually had some to go in the baskets.

I've made this recipe ten or twelve times now and each time it has turned out just right. I find it works just as well with 1/4 cup of maple syrup as it does with 1/3 cup and pecan halves are a good substitute for or addition to mix with the walnut halves. (Although the walnut halves are my favorite here. To jazz it up a bit as I've experimented with the recipe I've added about 1/2 tsp of finely minched fresh rosemary along with about the same amount of ground cumin and a pinch of cayenne and that's been a good sort of "bar flavor" combo added to the salty / sweet base. These are not only good as snacks, they are great coarsely chopped and added to salads or to serve with pears and with or without yogurt for dessert. This is a "go to" recipe.
