This recipe is a family staple in my house. Moist, flavorful, and healthy all in one. Kids and adults love this meal and it serves an army. No need to substitute any other ground meats. Love this recipe....NO substitutions!

Past experience has taught me that this meatloaf made with all ground turkey would be dry as the Sahara Desert, so I substituted half the ground turkey with a 50/50 mixture of ground turkey and pork. Normally I use ground sirloin and ground pork anyway. Also added 3 cloves of minced garlic, the leaves off a sprig of fresh thyme, red wine instead of non-fat milk and like always substituted steak sauce for Worcestershire sauce since I don't think they make a Worcestershire sauce without anchovies For the topping I used a cup of ketchup, 1 Tb of packed brown sugar and a tsp of prepared mustard. After the re-make version I gave it 5 stars, so did my partner and our dinner guest.

Have made this recipe with the ground turkey and just made it with ground beef, it is a very moist meatloaf and it does take longer to cook, so i bump up the oven temp to 375 and bake 1 1/4 hours and let set the ten minutes, and it is always perfect. My only additions are chili powder and tumeric, my go to healthy spices I always use to bump up flavors and health benefits.....and have always made my meatloafs with oatmeal anyway, but never soaked them in milk ahead of time, it is a great recipe......

We love this meatloaf. My boyfriend, who doesn't like veggies or ground turkey adores it. The red pepper gives it a nice flavor. I made it exactly as stated, and wouldn't change a thing. We did not miss the bread crumbs; the loaf is nice and dense, and extremely moist. I made it with Ellie's Smashed Potatos w/Sour Cream and Chives, another delicious healthy dish. I will be serving this again! I did have to cook it longer than called for, approx 25 minutes.

This recipe was very wet when molding into a loaf, and because I'd never made a loaf with oats before I added 1/2 cup of bread crumbs (oats would have been fine. I am also new to living at 6500 elevation so cooked the loaf about 30 minutes longer. Following others suggestions I added some additional spices. The whole family loved this meat loaf. I wish recipes came with high elevation directions.

Except for the oatmeal, it's almost exactly as mom made it when she made it with beef. Now that I rarely use ground beef, I make my meatloaf with ground turkey. I know this is delicious because I've made it long before I saw this recipe, only using crumbled ww bread or even softened stuffing mix. I'd like to try the oats, but I never have the fast cooking variety in the house. Can I use the Old Fashioned Oats? Maybe heat the milk a bit and soak the oats a little longer?

This recipe was very easy and incredibly tasty. I wonder if Ellie has suggestions for a gravy/sauce to go on the side?

Since others said it was bland I added 1/2 tsp paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and added 1 shredded carrot. It taste just like beef meatloaf and so moist!
