On the show she added to the dressing:
The zest of 1 orange, and salt and pepper. (There is no lettuce in this salad. Looking forward to making it!

This salad was okay. I think I should have used a bigger orange and maybe deleted the mustard from the dressing. Anyway, it was just okay.

I loved this recipe; I am about to make it again and realized I forgot to rate it back in December when I made it the 1st time...I made it for a Christmas pot luck and it went over great! It packs alot of flavor (I did use more orange slices then it called for-however! I think I'll try it this summer with almonds as the nut. This is awesome!

I enjoyed the salad as per the recipe, but tasted it prior to adding the dressing and liked it better than with it. Overall, it was very good both ways and could make a great vegetarian dish minus the chicken broth.

Using the tips provided by other reviewers, I used 1 pkg. Uncle Ben's (instant Long Grain and Wild Rice and instant brown rice, and I halved the dressing. I liked the red onion, basil and toasted pistachio flavors. The large navel orange I used had a thick layer of pith, so the orange slices could definitely be increased to keep the balance between sweet, sour, and savory. A nice side dish for roast chicken or fish. Finally, to the cook asking about whether all the ingredients Ellie used are in the recipe, they are.

I modified this recipe in several ways. I used instant brown rice and quick cook wild rice and prepared according to package instructions. I added roasted chicken pieces, 1 cup chopped granny smith apple pieces (toss these in lemon juice to keep them from browning, and 1 cup of edamame. I also substituted sliced almonds for the pistachios. Finally, I drizzled the dressing over the rice salad and saved some for a mixed green side salad.

Very Tasty but I watched Ellie make this and I believe she added Romaine
lettuce also. This was not on the
list of ingredients. Did anyone else
    watch the show?

I made this salad this weekend. Used Trader Joe's Brown Rice Medley and substituted toasted sliced almonds as I didn't have any pistachios. It was very delicious and fresh tasting, however, the dressing overpowered the rice and made it too wet. Next time, I would increase the amount of the rice by 1 cup or 1/2 the dressing. I also might try fresh mint instead of the basil.
