I followed the recipe except that I turned the oven down a bit to 425 ? and they are perfect! Just as good as the deep fried version. I will definitely make them over and over.

I have made these several times and really enjoy them. I love onion rings but feel guilty eating the fried ones so now I can have my onion rings without the guilt. I do find they take a bit of labor but, to me, they are worth it. I also kick up the cayenne pepper!

I LOVED these! I followed the recipe exactly- did have trouble with the chips clumping toward the end. Will only use a little of the chips at a time next time to prevent clumping. You can find baked potato chips that are made from whole sliced potatoes in the supermarket (not ground up reformed chips- these are the best kind to use. I used Kettle Chips brand.

I would try this recipe again.. How ever, i would make a few changes. I would NOT again add the cayenne pepper i thought it made the onion rings horrible. Another thing was my onion rings were burnt ;perhaps 20 mins was too long to leave them baking.I had NO problems with my coating sticking to the onions, probably because i let the onions sit in the fridge about an hour after i coated them with the buttermilk. Over all, i thought it was a great recipe but again i would make a few changes. Like, Less time in the oven and i would kick the Cayenne pepper and just stick with salt or seasoning salt and a dash of pepper...

When I read the other reviews, I was very surprised. I should be able to follow the recipe exactly without tips and additions and get the outcome.I bought all the right ingredients and flollowed the recipe to a T.The potato chips would not stick to the onions and with more and more onions dipped, got gummy and soggy. After baking, The onions were underdone and the chip part almost burnt . Not a recipe I would try again.

Made the onion rings tonight, my husband said the same thing as another person-- tasted like potato chip -- I liked them. Did use regular chips because that is what was on hand. Did not do well in the blender-- stuck together instead of making crumbs. Had to run chips through hands to separate. Next time will try the baked as recipe calls for.

Let them rest a few minutes before putting them in the oven; good advice. If the recipe goes over well my wife says print it. This is a keeper. The cayenne is a nice addition, know your audience.

LOVED this recipe! Added a dash of sugar to the potato chips and less cayenne because my family doesn't like the heat. After coating all the rings, I placed on a cookie sheet and put them in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before baking them off. I turned the onion rings over half way through cooking and sprayed them again with cooking spray. Delicious! My husband and kids loved them!!!

My wife and I made these a few weeks ago. We don't have chips in the house but we substituted panko and I loved them. She loved the way they turned out but she doesn't like spicy food so was turned off by the cayenne. We're making them again tonight and we're going to pass the panko through the food processor for a few seconds to get it a bit finer as well as tone down the spiciness.
