you really have to play with this recipe to get a great taste. Do not roast the toms for 50 mins or you will be sorry, 30 at max. added diced chicked, some pre-made pesto and more garlic. Bland without the add ons. Delicious after!

Glad I read the other reviews. I’ll start with the finished product-it was creamy, but did lack in flavor. Whenever I got a bite of basil or cheese, it was delicious. Other times...eh. My husband loved it and had two bowls. I'll make some more changes next time. My changes: I used pasta twists instead of penne (this didn't allow for anything to hide inside, I roasted the garlic in alum. foil with the tomatoes . I roasted for 25 minutes at 430 degrees. At 25 minutes, they were starting to get charred. The garlic came out great, but didn't add a lot of flavor. Next time, I'll add more. Used Romano instead of Parm for extra bite. I did use the beans and I liked them. Next time, I'll use more tomatoes, more garlic, and add a little oregano like another poster. Added a little bit of EVOO at the end to add a little wetness. All in all, it was easy and good. With some more tweaking, it could be really good. Give this a try, but be prepared to make some changes.

Tomatoes for 30 mins is plenty of time! I added oregano to the oven mix and it added some great flavor. Also, to the pasta dish, I added black olives, spring mix (aka salad mix, and some diced chicken. Really easy dish to whip up and a great way to incorporate some veggies.

450 for 40 minutes was way too long for the tomatoes. Luckily, I checked them after 30 and they were charred, but at least edible..Added a little sprinkle of hot pepper flakes but didn't do much. KInd of dry, kind of tasteles.... wouldn't make it again

The first thing I want to say is I used roma tomatoes and they were AMAZING, full of flavor and a great texture. However, I almost burned them using the cooking recomendations and I did burn my perfectly good garlic. So, I used the powdered stuff instead. I used whole wheat pasta (delicious. I'm not a fan of beans so I omitted them. I did find this a bit bland so I took some artichoke hearts marinated in oil and roasted them in my still piping hot oven and stirred a little of the oil into the pasta and it turned out wonderfully!

I tried this dish. I wasn't wild about it. I didn't care for the beans and it is too bland, needs to be a sauced up little bit more. I will try to make this again & add more tomatoes to try to sauce it up more. I also will roast the garlic separate, so it won't be so dry. I do have ever like the idea of the roasted tomatoes. I think there is so many ways that this dish can go, by using this recipe as a base to start with. Gives me loads of ideas, so it isn't a complete flop.

This dish needs more punch, otherwise it is very bland. I added more tomatoes, garlic, roasted onions and a half teaspoon of red pepper flakes. It was flavorful and filling and remained healthy. Next time I will try adding some roasted chicken and spinach.
