Interesting idea, but unless your teeth are granite hard, the cornmeal is a bust! I even tried it a second time with finely ground cornmeal. Maybe try it with Panko.

I am also going to use the panko breadcrumbs next time or process the cornmeal in my food processor until it's extra fine. I will make it again. Doesn't compare to the fried version but if you're on a diet, this is a good version.

I thought the shrimp were great! I used a larger shrimp and also a very fine cornmeal, actually I think it may have been a fine cornmeal for instant polenta. I used bags for the flour and cornmeal mixtures and shook the shrimp in them - made for a much easier and quick breading process. Will definitely make this again.

I tried this recipe out because I wanted to make a lighter version of deep-fried breaded shrimp. I followed the recipe exactly, and felt that the coating was a little bit too heavy and dry for me. I think mostly because of the cornmeal. It is very course and grainy and makes a good coating for catfish, but I don't think it's very good on shrimp. I think I may try this recipe again, but with panko bread crumbs intsead of cornmeal. I do like Ellie's tip though about heating the pan first. I think this helps brown the shrimp better.

The coating on this shrimp (I followed the recipe exactly was too heavy and tasted too much like cornmeal to me. The dipping sauce was ok.

Recipe was not hard to make, but it was very bland. Shrimp was heavy in breading and had absolutely no taste! However, the lime sauce was really good. I'll remember the sauce for other dipping items!

this was not good. The breading was heavy, the shrimp lacked flavor and just didn't live up to expectations. This is certainly a healthy alternative, but the sacrifice is flavor and taste.

This recipe fell far short of my expectations. I am normally a big fan of the recipes Ellie has put together, however this recipe lacked flavor and I did not like the texture of the breading. The dipping sauce was ok, but did not compensate for the terrible shrimp

I loved, loved, loved the shrimp. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used bigger shrimp (41-50 count, and they were still delicious. I could eat these everyday. Thanks Ellie

This is just so easy and delicious. The key is using very small shrimp and having a hot baking sheet. The dip is fantastic! Can't go wrong with this dish for entertaining.
